If you're anything like me, I imagine you also are just learning that February 5th is National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Declared by Ronald Reagan back in 1987, National Girls and Women in Sports Day just had their greatest accomplishment since the "holiday's" inception.
This afternoon, surrounded by female athletes, President Donald Trump signed an executive order officially banning men from playing in women's sports. If you were to go back in time to 1987 and tell President Reagan that this happened, he would have thrown up in his mouth – no what in women's sports?? A concept so unfathomable for the vast majority of mankind has seemingly been becoming the norm over the past ten years – but not anymore. Thanks to the efforts of countless high school and college athletes, parents of these athletes, and a fleet of conservative (or, really just common sensical) commenters, no parent will ever have to worry about their daughter being harmed by, or beaten out by, a man playing a woman's sport again.
The fact that it even came to this speaks volumes to the left's severe problem with tone deafness – a lesson they seemingly haven't learned since the red wave in the 2024 election. While majority of Americans tend to lean left, majority of the country still has common sense – something that was revealed in the 2024 Presidential Election. And I think nothing better illustrates this tone deafness than the women and men issue – that of course, shouldn't be an issue. There are plenty of things the left pushes on their followers that you can at least see the argument for. While I am pro-life, I can see the argument to be made for being pro-choice. I see why someone wouldn't support the death penalty, and I can even see why someone would support DEI – I don't agree with these premises, but I can at least follow Point A to Point B on why a typical liberal would think that way. The gender issue? Holds ZERO water. A boy is a boy. A girl is a girl. You can pretend you're one thing or the other, but everyone knows what you are. You cannot be a man, say you're a woman, and suddenly spawn the ability to become pregnant – because you are a man, not a woman. This was a massive misstep by the democrats – pushing this ideology was fatal to their campaign, because even the most radical liberals can look at the gender issue and be like, "yeah, that isn't right." Living in Arlington, I know a lot of liberal parents. I haven't met a single one who understands what's going on with people's "preferred pronouns." They all think it's ridiculous – and they're right! So enough liberal voters saw this, this issue more than any of the others and thought, "Yeah, I don't like Trump, I don't support him, but I refuse to be associated with the party that chemically changes boys to girls and girls to boys. I refuse to be the party that thinks 5-year-old children know better than their 35-year-old parents. I refuse to be associated with the party that lets testosterone-filled boys play sports against teenage girls."
The irony of the left on this issue is hilarious – they claim to be the party of women, minorities, the oppressed, etc. But who does this issue really harm? Women! No one ever complains about women playing boys' sports. But boys playing girls' sports? You mean boys – the sex that is genetically stronger, longer, faster, taller, and more aggressive – can play with girls – the sex that is… not typically associated with those things? That's not to say there aren't a plethora of extremely strong, fast, and talented female athletes – there are. But genetically speaking, men will clear the female hurdle every time. So not only do women pose a stronger risk physically, from getting harmed – what's perhaps even worse is that these aforementioned excellent athletes will never get the recognition, or shine, they deserve, because of some man with either a mental disorder or an inferiority complex.
It is awesome that Trump did this – and disgusting that he even had to. But it's important to remember this wasn't Trump that did this, it was everyone. It was all of us that voted to stop the woke garbage in November and got Trump elected. It was the conservative podcasters, TV hosts, and politicians who used their platform to spread the word against this cruelty. And most of all, it was the girls who were robbed of wins, records, and championships who refused to sit idly by while these gross and malicious actions occurred. Because of them, women and girls of the future will never know what that's like.
